Emergency First Response – Recertification.
Course Description
An Emergency First Responder (EFR) is a person trained in Cardiac First Response that possesses additional knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of patients in a pre-hospital environment.
Eligibility / Student Requirements
Recommended Age: 18 yearsCurrent CFR Community or CFR Advanced

Course Duration
The duration of EFR recertification courser shall be no less than 2 days/12 contact hours including assessment.
Recertification should be designed according to the identification of training needs (ITN) of the students.
Please note that, within Civil Defence, the minimum duration may be exceeded to allow additional time for practical skills development and assessment.
Class Size/ Instructor Ratio:
The instructor student ration must not exceed 1: 6/8 students in a syndicate
Certifying Agency:
Successful candidates will be awarded a PHECC / Civil Defence Emergency First Response certificate. Certification is issued digitally by PHECC.
Certification period:
Certification lapses after three years; it is also necessary to retain certification in CFR (every 2 years).
Assessment
Demonstration of EFR skills against the PHECC assessment sheets EFR skills practice and a scenario-based skills assessment
The EFR multiple choice question paper exam of 40 questions; 80% pass mark - completed online
Course Location
Course location, dates, and times will be confirmed by your CDO or course instructor.

You will have access to an EFR manual and PHECC CPGs are available to download from PHECC Website

Civil Defence Volunteer Instructors within your unit
PPE
Gloves and hand sanitisers will be available during the course - no specific PPE is required
