Emergency Medical TechnicianCourse Description
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are trained emergency care practitioners. The education and training standard at EMT level prepares the course participants for managing patient care in interfacility and pre-hospital emergency care settings. The standard for EMT includes patient assessment skills in addition to more thorough patient care and management skills.
Eligibility / Student Requirements
Be member of Civil Defence for a minimum of four years
Nominated by CDO
Have completed the Hepatitis B Vaccination Programme
In addition to the MTS; CFR Advanced and People Handling
Course Duration
The Civil Defence EMT Course is delivered over a six-month period, with end to coincide with PHECC Exam Calendar

The class size is agreed following nominations and pre-course assessmentCertifying Agency
Successful candidates will be awarded a PHECC NQEMT Certificate and will apply to join the PHECC Register
Certification period
The NQEMT Certificate is for live. EMTs are required to complete CPD and Upskilling to CPGs as appropriate
Assessment
The mandatory components of the NQEMT assessment are:
100 Multiple Choice Questions and Practical Skills Assessment
